NEW DELHI: A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation initiated a preliminary enquiry against Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisiodia and health minister Satyendar Jain, the Aam Aadmi Party has claimed that the BJP-led Centre was ‘rattled’ by the prospects of the party in the upcoming state elections in Punjab and Goa. Party spokesperson Dilip Pandey said that the PE was a clear indicator that “AAP will sweep Punjab and Goa in the upcoming assembly polls.”

“Prime Minister Modi fears our success in the elections due in Punjab and in Goa, which is why the CBI has registered these cases,” he said. Pandey also linked the inquiry to national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s recent declaration that he would jail Punjab minister Bikram Majithia before April 15, if the party came to power. “Come what may, Majithia will be put behind bars, Pandey added.

On Wednesday, the CBI started separate probes into allegations of corruption against Sisodia and Jain. The enquiry against Sisodia was over alleged irregularities in a contract to a private firm for a social media campaign, Talk to AK.
