BENGALURU: Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces will continue in the city even as the city police promised a peaceful day on Wednesday. The city remained tense but peaceful on Tuesday after the Supreme Cour t directed Karnataka to release 6,000 cusecs of water a day to Tamil Nadu until September 27.
The city saw burning of Tamil Nadu-re gistered vehicles on September 12 following a similar direction to release water.

On Wednesday, public transport, educational institutions and all establishments are expected to function normally . City police commissioner NS Megharikh said that Tuesday's security arrangements would be extended and prohibitory orders would be in effect till September 25.

Despite this, the Kar nataka Rakshana Vedike and other proKannada organisations have decided to protest against the ruling on Wednesday . Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, West) KSR Charan Reddy said that 600 persons were taken into preventive custody on Tuesday in addition to the 1,000 who were arrested on Monday . The police were flooded on social media with queries on what to expect in the city on Wednesday .

Soon after the SC direction was known, security around the chief minister's residence `Cauvery' was tightened in order to prevent the entry of protestors.
