Caste certificates in 100 days, says Mamata Banerjee on first visit to Jhargram post polls

She announced that the tribal people will get caste certificates within 100 days, a promise also made by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his junglemahal poll campaigns during the assembly polls early this year.

After winning Jhargram Assembly seats in Jungle Mahal where it had suffered major setback in the 2019 Lok Sabha election from BJP, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on her maiden visit to the district of Jhargram after the polls, announced on Monday a comprehensive plan to develop the region with focus on education, health and enhancing other government services including Duare Ration and Duare Sarkar.

She announced that the tribal people will get caste certificates within 100 days, a promise also made by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his junglemahal poll campaigns during the assembly polls early this year.

“We have already decided to provide the caste certificates within a span of 100 days. More than 95 percent people in Jhargram has received services from the government. We have set up a superspeciality hospital and


Mamata Banerjee said that the process of developing a new university-Sadhuram Chand University in Jhargram is underway. “We have already undertaken the process of building 500 schools where the medium of imparting education will be Olchiki,” she said.

The junglemahal region is dominated by SC-ST and tribal population who are poverty stricken. “The state government has also started graduation courses in Lalgarh college where the students can study in Santhal language, which is a big leap for the educational reform in the district,” Mamata emphasized.

The Bengal Chief Minister also assured Duare Ration facility which will reach people within 2 months. She also said that all the schemes will reach people of the tribal-dominated region.
