Cash-for-vote scam: Accused seeks call details of Ahmed Patel, Amar Singh
Former BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste, an accused in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam, has sought details of phone calls made by Amar Singh.
Kulaste filed an application before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal also seeking directions to Delhi police to furnish the call details of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, senior bureaucrat S P Gupta, former Union minister Buta Singh's son Lovely Singh and three other unknown numbers.
He sought court directions to the police to supply him "complete and unedited" set of DVDs containing video recorded of the sting operation conducted on July 22, 2008.
"On preliminary scrutiny of the charge sheet supplied to the applicant (Kulaste) the following have been found to be short -- Complete and unedited set of DVDs... telephone details of Lovely Singh, S P Gupta, Ahmed Patel, Amar Singh (and three unknown numbers)..." the applications said.
"The same may be directed to be supplied at the earliest by the prosecution to the applicant for effective defence and trial," Kulaste said in his application filed through advocate Anil Soni.
Meanwhile, the court today saw the video footage of the sting operation in the courtroom.
However, only counsels for accused and prosecution advocates were allowed to watch the footage and all scribes and relative of the accused were asked to leave the court immediately before video was started.
