Cash-for-query case: LS Ethics Committee summons Mahua Moitra on Nov 2, says no further extension will be granted
The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on Saturday rescheduled Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra's appearance date in the cash-for-query case to November 2 from October 31, 2023, reported PTI.

However, the extension comes with a firm stipulation that no further extensions will be granted to the MP.

Moitra had written to the Ethics Committee earlier, expressing her unavailability on October 31 and stating her readiness to appear only after November 4.

The Ethics Committee is conducting an investigation into allegations made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who accused Moitra of accepting bribes and favors in exchange for raising questions in the Lok Sabha at the behest of businessman Hiranandani. Earlier, Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai provided oral evidence to the committee regarding their claims against the Trinamool Congress MP.

In response, Mahua Moitra has emphasized her right to a fair hearing and ample opportunity to defend herself against the allegations, which she describes as false, malicious, and defamatory.
