Cash credit limit for wheat procurement is a routine affair: Captain Amarinder Singh to CM Parkash Singh Badal

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt. Amarinder Singh today asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as what was so celebratory about getting the Cash Credit Limit (CCL) for the procurement of wheat that was otherwise just a routine affair and had to come to the state in any case.

He also told the Chief Minister that instead of feeling “anguished” over the genuine and justified criticism by the opposition, he should better feel anguished over the daily suicides by the farmers who are killing themselves because of debt and distress.

“Better shed your tears for those thousands of farmers who lost their lives in distress and despair, thanks to your callous negligence and indifference than wail and whine over our criticism for your failures”, he told Mr Badal, while taking a jibe at his “feeling of anguish”.

“The way you have gone into frenzied jubilations over a routine affair like the release of the CCL, is a sad reflection of the state of affairs you are presiding over”, Capt Amarinder reminded Mr Badal, while reacting to his criticism of the opposition leaders over the wheat scam.

The PCC president also said that mere release of Rs 17000 crore CCL does not wipe out the Rs 12000 crore wheat scandal that has taken place under his nose. “Release of CCL in no way means a clean chit to you and you still stand guilty of cheating and robbing the farmers of the state of Rs 12000 crore for which you will be held answerable sooner than later”, Capt Amarinder warned Mr Badal, while cautioning him not to be under any wrong impression that the Rs 12000 crore whet scam by his government will ever be forgotten or that he can get away with it.
