Case registered against two BJP leaders, 150 others

BIJNOR: A case has been registered against two BJP leaders -- an MP and an MLA -- along with 150 others for allegedly jamming the state highway in a protest against the proposed inclusion of 44 villages of Bijnor in a new tehsil in Amroha.

On Saturday evening, a demonstration was held by Noorpur BJP MLA, Lokendra Singh, and Nagina BJP MP, Yashwant Singh, along with their supporters on Guhavar Chowk who also jammed the Bijnor-Moradabad highway in protest against the proposal.

According to official sources deliberations are underway to include 44 villages of Noorpur area of Bijnor in the proposed Naugavan tehsil in Amroha district.

The highway was reopened on Sunday afternoon following an assurance to the protestors by authorities. Later, a case was registered against the two BJP leaders and 150 others by Daulatpur police station SHO Jaiprakash on the orders of administration.

The case was registered under sections 147 (punishment for rioting) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of IPC.
