BASTI: Apparently buoyed by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a case has been registered here against five persons for allegedly throwing garbage and littering in public place.

The case was registered yesterday under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC against five persons residing on 'Nyay marg', Superintendent of Police G P Srivastava said.

They were challaned for allegedly throwing household garbage on the road, creating conditions for spread of infectious diseases, he said.

"On the one hand the nagarpalika is continuously working for the cleanliness of the city, urban residents are dumping garbage on the roads which is wrong and police is now out to check them," the SP said.
