Canada proposes MoU on best practices
NEW DELHI: Canada, one of the first Western nations to heavily engage with Narendra Modi since he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, has extended all help to fulfil the Prime Minister’s dream of financial and administrative prudence by proposing an MoU to share best practices on these matters. The idea of an MoU to share best practices was proposed last week by Tony Clement, a senior Canadian minister who came calling on India.

Clement who is also President of the Treasury Board of Canada met Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh and offered to share best practices to improve India’s financial and administrative mechanisms for efficient governance.

In an exclusive chat with ET, Clement said that Canada wants to put its experience of financial and administrative prudence to use in India that will reduce the government’s expenditure.

"This does not lead to major loss of services. The idea is to cut down on back-office operations and consolidation of IT services in government departments. This results in financial prudence," explained Clement, who proposed the MoU during his meeting with Singh.
