Can Modi guarantee Nitish Kumar won't take another U-turn: Tejashwi Yadav during Bihar floor test debate
Likening Nitish Kumar with Dasrath, Tejashwi Yadav said he must have some compulsions to send Ram into exile. He also asked Kumar to explain the reasons for him joining hands with BJP.
Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav today likened JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to Dasrath and said that like the Ayodhya King, he sent Ram into exile.
During the floor test debate in the Bihar assembly, Yadav said, 'I stand against this new government. I want to thank CM Nitish Kumar for creating history by taking oath 9 times."
"You talk about Ram, but we also see Nitish as Dasrath. We view Nitish as a guardian. Similar to Dasrath, Nitish Kumar might have had some compulsions to send Ram into exile," remarked the former Bihar Deputy CM and RJD leader.
He also pressed Nitish Kumar to explain to the people of Bihar what his compulsion was in joining hands with the BJP.
"The people of Bihar deserve to know why you are sometimes on this side and sometimes on the other," he added.
"We will always respect CM Nitish Kumar...When you came out of Raj Bhavan after resigning, you (Nitish Kumar) said 'Mann nhi lag raha tha, hum log nachne gaane ke liye thode hai...we were there to support you,'" he added.
"We can't even use words to describe Nitish Kumar, not even the ones children use," Yadav remarked.
He also sarcastically questioned BJP leaders whether Modi would guarantee that Nitish Kumar wouldn't switch sides again.
"There was no reason for us to come with JDU, but we joined hands to oust BJP from power. Our fight was to defeat communal forces in the country," Tejashwi Yadav added.
Earlier in January, Nitish, who had reportedly gone into a sulk after not being named the convenor of INDIA, the Opposition bloc that took shape through his efforts, dumped the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in Bihar and the national coalition to form a new government with the support of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
