CAG reports have 'exposed' UPA, government should resign: BJP
NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of tabling of three CAG reports, BJP today demanded resignation of the government alleging that scams in the coal, power and airport sectors had exposed the "loot and plunder" of the country.

"Government is badly exposed by the three CAG reports on power, coal and Delhi airport. The magnitude of these scams, according to the CAG report, is between Rs 1.6 and 1.86 lakh crore," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters outside the Parliament.

"It is nothing but loot and plunder of the country. The UPA has no moral right to be in power after (the revelation by) these CAG reports. The CVC has handed over the probe to the CBI and we are following it," he said.

Another BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy also questioned the role of the Prime Minister in the alleged coal scam, saying he was in-charge of the Ministry from 2005 to 2010.

"In 2006, it was decided to auction these coal blocks. However, the decision was set aside and 159 coal blocks were distributed without auction to persons who were not qualified for it," he alleged.

The BJP leaders alleged that the coal scam had caused a loss of Rs 1.85 lakh crore to the national exchequer.
