CAG report on Games: Dikshit calls CLP meeting on Friday

Sheila Dikshit has called a meeting of Congress Legislature Party on Friday to apprise the MLAs about the government's stand.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has called a meeting of Congress Legislature Party on Friday to apprise the MLAs about the government's stand on the CAG report on Commonwealth Games.

Sources said Dikshit will inform the MLAs about the government defence on the CAG findings and is expected to field them to inform people about the issues.

She is also expected to explain to the MLAs about the circumstances in which the government had to take certain decisions ahead of the Games.

"The Chief Minister is likely to call upon the MLAs to convince the people of the city in their constituencies on why government had to take certain decisions considering the situation prevailing ahead of the Games. This is an effort to counter opposition allegations," a senior leader said.

The CAG report, which was tabled in Parliament on Friday, has severely indicted Dikshit for irregularities in certain CWG projects implemented by her government following which BJP has mounted pressure on her to step down.
