Cable operators relent to air IPL matches
Bowing to public pressure, the Cable Operators Association, which has blacked out all national and international channels in the Kashmir valley started airing Set Max which is telecasting the Indian Premier League.
"There has been an overwhelming demand from our subscribers to air the IPL matches. For the convenience of the subscribers, the IPL matches will not be affected by the blackout," a member of the association told PTI.
He said, however, other national and international channels will remain off air as a mark of protest against the Jammu and Kashmir government's order banning airing of Pakistani news channels.
Cricket is a craze in the valley and has received further boost following inclusion of local fast bowler Mudassir Ahmad in the King's XI Punjab team.
Cricket fans followed the rebel Indian Cricket League with equal fervour before the start of the IPL.
