NEW DELHI: The expansion of the Union Council of Ministers will take place on Sunday evening. The exercise is likely to be limited to the induction of a few new faces from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

Names of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot, Jitin Prasada and V Hanumantha Rao are doing rounds for possible induction.

President Pratibha Patil will administer oath to the new ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 1900 hours, official sources said.

There has been talk of a reshuffle at the Centre for quite some time now. There may also be a minor reshuffle of portfolios.

Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, who is holding charges of ministries of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, may have to give up one of the two portfolios in the wake of his appointment as West Bengal Pradesh Congress chief.

The term of Union Ministers Suresh Pachouri and M V Rajashekharan as Rajya Sabha members has also ended and it was not clear whether they would be continuing in the government.

The talk of changes in the Cabinet gained momentum after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called on the President on Saturday.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan press release didn't provide much detail, limiting itself to saying that national and international events were discussed in the 30-minute meeting Singh had with Patil.

Congress sources, however, indicated that the impending minor restructuring of the government featured in the conversation.

They said that three names had already been identified for the minister of state slot - Jyotiraditya Scindia, V Hanumantha Rao and RJD's Raghunath Jha.

Reports said the Congress leadership has been considering effecting changes at the Centre level ahead of assembly polls in some of the key states later this year.
