NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet is expected to be reshuffled this week. Sources said the changes may happen in the next three-four days.

They said details have been worked out and only finishing touches remain to be given.

The changes will take place amid concern about the performance of infrastructure ministries , and perceptions of inefficiency and corruption in some others. It will be a precursor to changes in the Congress, the need for which is felt acutely, particularly since the Bihar polls.

Despite speculation to the contrary, a change in the foreign ministry does not seem likely. There is no dissatisfaction with incumbent S M Krishna’s performance. It is recognized that Krishna’s reflexes have not always been fast. However, he is considered to be a safe pair of hands. Moreover, his low-key style suits a PMO that likes to drive foreign policy.
