NEW DELHI: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel early next month, the Union Cabinet today approved the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries on a water conservation campaign in India.

This will benefit the country in conserving water for future generations, an official statement said.

Modi will be on a three-day visit to Israel, beginning July 4.

"The two countries shall work to enhance cooperation at the national, regional and international level to design, implement and monitor the professionally-designed conservation campaign," the statement said.

As part of the MoU, the governments intend to achieve several objectives such as putting water conservation on the national agenda in India, encouraging each citizen to save water in everyday life, promoting its re-use, recharge and recycling.
