Karnataka State Pollution Control Board Chairman quits as Kumaraswamy gives in to coalition pressure

Retired IFS officer C Jayaram has resigned as Chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board as Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy continued to make space for nominees from bigger ally Congress.

Jayaram submitted his resignation to Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy who has been under pressure to please Congress and JD-S MLAs with positions in boards and corporations.

On Monday night, Kumaraswamy had transferred BDA commissioner Rakesh Singh bowing to pressures from BDA chairman and Congress MLA ST Somashekhar.

After the massive defeat in the recent Lok Sabha polls, the Chief Minister seems to have mellowed down, and is making concessions to save the JD(S)-Congress coalition regime

Jayaram who was known as a competent officer, was posted to the KSPCB just three months ago after he retired from the Indian Forest Service as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests after more than three decades of service.
