Byelections to be held in 14 states as 49 MLAs enter Lok Sabha
Bypolls would be held for at least 41 assembly seats and two MLC posts in the next six months.

Bypolls would be held for at least 41 assembly seats and two MLC posts in the next six months as the legislators would be required to resign from the respective assemblies/legislative councils to hold on to their Lok Sabha seats. These would also include one of the two assembly seats which Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik will have to vacate — Hinjili or Bijepur. However, bypolls won’t be held for the six assembly seats in Maharashtra, two seats in Jharkhand and one in Haryana as assembly polls are due in the states in the next six months.
The SP-BSP alliance will face another test in UP when elections would be held in 11 assembly seats: Govindnagar, Tundla, Lucknow Cantt, Gangoh, Balha, Manikpur, Iglas, Zaidpur, Pratapgarh, Jalalpur and Rampur.
