By 2012 Gujarat will provide power to rest of India: Modi

While talking about Gujrat's achievements, the state's Chief Minister Narendra Modi claimed that by 2012, his state will be able to provide power to the rest of the country.

MUMBAI: While talking about Gujrat's achievements, the state's Chief Minister Narendra Modi claimed that by 2012, his state will be able to provide power to the rest of the country.

Modi was addressing a BJP's election campaign meeting at Ghatkopar in central Mumbai.

"While country is on the decline (during UPA rule), Gujrat is on the ascent," he said. Gujrat became a revenue surplus state without addition of a single tax, he claimed. "The Gujarat formula is very simple: People there threw off the Congress rule and brought in BJP," he added.

Referring to Prime minister Manmohan Singh's statement that for him the saddest moment was when Indo-US nuclear deal was stuck (by Opposition parties), Modi asked "when blasts killed 200 persons in Mumbai, did not the PM fell anguish?"

Modi also criticised government's response during 26/11. "How long it took them to send commandos? ...When Parliament was attacked, the terrorists could not enter the building, within forty minutes all terrorists were killed....In Akshardham temple, terrorists were killed in four hours.." he said.

A commission of inquiry must look into lapses during the 26/11 attack, Modi demanded.
