Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus service launched

Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka service would be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from Kolkata; and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Dhaka.

Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus service launched
KOLKATA: To strengthen ties between India and Bangladesh, third bus service covering Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka route was flagged off from Bengal state secretariat Nabanna today. The distance between Kolkata to Dhaka via Khulna is around 409 km.

While this is third such service between Dhaka and Kolkata that has been introduced today, the two other services are on the Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala route; and, Kolkata-Dhaka route.

The service will be run by the West Bengal transport department here and by the BRTC on the Bangladesh side. The Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka service would be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from Kolkata; and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Dhaka, said transport department sources. The fare for the route is yet to be decided.


With the bus service, the Radhikapur-Birol railway link and the trial run for the Kolkata-Khulna rail route were also been announced tida. The Kolkata-Khulna via Petrapole rail route, covering 120 kns, is expected to commence operations from July this year, added sources.
