KOLKATA: A three-day strike has been called from June 25 by private bus and minibus operator organisations in West Bengal today demanding a fare hike.

Although the price of diesel was hiked by the Centre several times, bus fares were not increased by the state government in tune with it, Dipak Sarkar, Vice-President of the Bengal Bus Syndicate told PTI here.

"Bus operators' organisations have been making the demand, but the government has not acceded. In such a situation we have no choice than to call the strike on June 25, 26 and 27," he said.

Sarkar said apart from the Joint Council of Bus Syndicate, the Bengal Bus Syndicate, All Bengal Bus and Mini Bus Coordination Committee, North Bengal Bus Operator's Coordination Committee and Minibus Operators' Coordination Committee would take part in the strike.
