NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday claimed that with the arrest of three people, they have got clues about the incident in which cow carcasses were found in a field in Bulandshahr. Finding of the cow carcasses had triggered the December 3 Bulandshahr violence in which two people, including a police inspector, were killed.

The three people — Nadeem, Raees and Kala, who were arrested on Tuesday — were involved in slaughtering the cows and placing their carcasses in the field, said KP Singh, inspector of the Siyana police station under which the incident occurred. “We have enough evidence to prove their involvement…” he told ET over the phone.

According to Singh, police have recovered a doublebarrel gun, rope, knife and other weapons from the arrested people. “The licence for the gun is in the name of Nadeem,” he added.

Meanwhile, police said there were no sufficient evidence against four others who were arrested in connection with the cow slaughter case. Investigators will inform the court on the lack of evidence against these people who are currently in jail, they said. Police have so far arrested 25 people over the killing of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a youth, Sumit Kumar. Yogesh Raj, the main accused, is still to be arrested.
