Bulandshahr Killing: Inspector, youth shot with bore of same gun

New Delhi: In a new twist to the investigation into the Bulandshahr violence, probe has been revealed that police officer Subodh Kumar Singh and a youth Sumit were killed by 32 bore, which is not used by police. The 32 bore is commonly used as a personal weapon.

This, sources told ET, has opened up many possibilities into the probe, with police looking into a larger conspiracy angle. It was these revelations which led UP CM Yogi Adityanath to say on Wednesday that the Bulandshahr incident was part of a bigger conspiracy. He has already directed the officials to unearth the conspiracy, if any, behind the incident, besides ensuring action against the culprits.

The CM was in New Delhi on Thursday to invite PM Narendra Modi for the Kumbh Mela, starting next month. He is believed to have kept the Centre posted on all developments over the investigation into the Bulandshahr violence. The UP government is of the view that the incident could have been part of larger ploy to tarnish the image of both the UP government and the CM.


This is because the state has seen several religious congregations, including of Muslims in Bulandshahr on December 1-3 and the VHP’s Dharma Sabha in Ayodhya earlier, without any problems in what is seen as an achievement for the Yogi government which, some feel, his detractors may be trying to tarnish.

Speaking to ET, UP DGP OP Singh said the incident should not be treated as a law and order problem.
