MUMBAI: The government plans to invest an additional Rs 1,000 crore in the Nirbhaya fund, finance minister Arun Jaitley said in his presentation of the fiscal budget today.

Nirbhaya fund is a Rs 1000 crore corpus built set up by the government to assist initiatives to ensure the safety and security of women.

Nirbhaya(fearless) was the name given to the Delhi rape victim in 2012.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu in the railway budget said a part of the corpus will be spent to set up CCTVs in railway platforms.
