Buddhadeb writes to PC on arrest of two suspected Maoists from Trinamool Congress camp
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has in a letter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said two suspected Maoists were arrested from a Trinamool Congress camp in the West Midnapore district last Monday.
Sources in the chief minister's secretariat on Thursday said Bhattacharjee had shared detailed information in his letter about the two suspected Maoist activists - Asim Mahato and Amiya Mahato - who were rounded up by joint forces in a TMC camp at the Midnapore municipality guesthouse.
The joint forces on Thursday found an AK-47 rifle from Kanyabari village under Salboni police station in West Midnapore district based on the information given by the arrested duo.
Information has been given to Chidambaram to justify Bhattacharjee's claim that Maoists and Trinamool Congress were in league in Jangalmahal. Bhattacharjee did not attend the chief minister's conference convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on February 1.
Chidambaram, who had addressed the conference, discussed at length the issues relating to the country's internal security. Bhattacharjee had sent a statement to Chidambaram and his message was carried to Delhi by the state Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra, who represented West Bengal in the chief minister's conference. Bhattacharjee had issued a statement last Monday after two suspected Maoist activists were picked up from Trinamool camp.
