BSP warns agitation against proposed hike in house tax

Local BSP councilors today threatened to launch an agitation against proposed hike in house tax by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam.

GHAZIABAD: Local BSP councilors today threatened to launch an agitation against proposed hike in house tax by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam.

"BSP will not tolerate any hike in house tax," leader of BSP in Nagar Nigam, Babu Singh Arya, said while adressing a meeting of party workers this morning.

"Public is already a victim of inflation. Items of daily need are becoming dearer day by day," he said.

"If the ruling party in the nagar nigam brings in any proposal regarding hike in house tax, BSP will oppose the move in the House," Singh Raj, BSP councilor and member of GDA Board, said.

Out of 80 wards of the nagar nigam, only 45 are paying house tax while the rest 35 wards are yet to be brought under the tax regime.

"Instead of balancing the revenue loss, the nagar nigam authorities must ponder over extending the tax base by imposing water, house and sewer tax on the remaining 35 wards," Singh added.
