BSP makes subtle online debut by 'supporters'
NEW DELHI: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) appears to have donned a new “avatar” for the upcoming assembly polls. While BSP focuses on regular delivery of its press releases containing views of party’s national president Mayawati on different issues, its supporters and followers have made the party’s presence felt on social media by using various Twitter accounts and Facebook pages.

However, BSP sources remain silent to term the ongoing online campaign as “official one”. They gave credit to BSP’s good presence in social media to their supporters and followers.

What is considered to be problem for the BSP to officially join the social media is party president Mayawati’s strict focus on the party’s stand on different issues.

Remarkably, BSP is one party in which party’s national president Mayawati spares her own time to personally write her press statements.

“Behanji give top priority for highlighting BSP’s views on different issues. In this age of social media, it is not possible for her to personally handle the twitter accounts or facebook pages,” a source in BSP explained the reason for BSP’s preference to keep it “officially” away from the social media.

In the recent months, BSP has kept on regularly sending press releases containing party chief Mayawati’s views on different issues and party’s activities. Besides media persons, these press releases are also circulated among the party’s booth-level functionaries through WhatsApp groups.
