BSP leader Danish Ali cries foul for not being heard in plaint against Ramesh Bidhuri

NEW DELHI: BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla alleging that the parliamentary procedures have been violated by not calling him first by the privileges committee in his complaint against the BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri for using “abusive” words against him. Danish, a member of the Ethics Committee, also raised the issue of the panel chairperson interacting with the media regarding a complaint of alleged ethical misconduct against TMC MP Mahua Moitra.

“It is very painful to learn from media sources that the chairman of the committee has openly spoken to the media…I see this as a violation of rule 275 of rules of procedure in Lok Sabha by none other than the chairman of ethics committee,” Ali said in the letter.

He said while the ethics committee looking into the complaint against Moitra has called the complainant, the privileges committee looking into his case has called the accused the first.


Both the privileges and ethics committee are chaired by BJP MPs and those who have been called to depose before them are also from the same party.

“I also wonder as to how two sets of procedures are being followed in a similar set of notice/complaint,” Danish said requesting Birla to consider the prevailing contraventions of procedures and urged him to direct the concerned officials to call him for giving evidence before the committee in the first instance.
