BSNL employees join nation-wide strike

BSNL Employees Union of Arunachal Pradesh joined the nation-wide indefinite strike called by the Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations.

ITANAGAR: BSNL Employees Union of Arunachal Pradesh joined the nation-wide indefinite strike called by the Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations today in protest against the alleged discriminatory policies of BSNL management.

Executive and non-executive employees of BSNL have been pressing for immediate settlement of their demands, including revision of pay, as per fitment benefit at the rate of 78.2 per cent with effect from Jan 1, 2007.

They are also demanding revision of perks and allowances such as transport allowance, children's education allowance, family planning allowance and professional upgradation allowance after revision of pay scales, union sources said.

The other demands include payment of medical allowances on quarterly basis, restoration of all India LTC/leave encashment, implementation of childcare leave and provision of superannuation benefits to directly recruited employees.
