Karnataka trust vote: Emotional Yeddyurappa resigns as CM, says he failed to get the numbers
Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has resigned ahead of the trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly.

Yeddyurappa delivered an emotional address to the Karnataka Assembly where he admitted that he does not have the numbers.

He said that he received love and affection from the people and how he wanted to help the farmers who are under distress.

He slammed the unholy alliance of Congress-JDS and called it 'opportunist'.

BS Yeddyurappa remained chief minister only for two days after the Karnataka governor Vajubhai Vala invited the single largest party BJP top form the governor.

The Congress which had stiched a post-poll alliance with the JDS had staked claim for forming the government but the governor went with the single largest party.

The governor's decision was challenged by the Congress-JDS combine in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, in a late night hearing, asked the BJP government to take a trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly.

The three-judge bench also rejected the plea of BS Yeddyurappa to give his government a week's time to prove his majority on the floor of the House. The apex court instead asked the BS Yeddyurappa government to take the trust vote on Saturday to prove his majority.
