Brother of captain of Gujarat vessel carrying 1,500 kg heroin detained in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Special Task Force of Kolkata Police has detained younger brother of Captain Suprit Tiwari, whose merchant vessel was allegedly carrying around 1,500 kg of heroine worth approximately Rs 3,500 crore. The vessel was intercepted and apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard off the coast of Gujarat on Saturday.

According to sources in Kolkata Police, Tiwari is a resident of Kolkata. His 22-year old brother Sujit, a student of B-Tech has been detained on Sunday from Entally area in central Kolkata.

A team of Gujarat ATS has gone to Kolkata to pick Sujit for interrogation, added sources.


Sujit has allegedly received Rs 100 crore on behalf of his brother, said a senior police official.
