LONDON: British Foreign Secretary David Miliband condemned bombings in Syria and India today, saying terrorist acts had "no justification."

"The bomb attacks today in Damascus and New Delhi are a devastating reminder of the prevalence of terrorism, and the willingness of some to kill innocent people to achieve their goals," Miliband said in a statement.

"Such acts of terrorism can have no justification, and must be condemned without reservation. My condolences and sympathies go out to all those who have suffered as a result of these atrocities."

In Damascus, 17 people were killed and 14 were wounded when a car bomb exploded near a Shiite shrine in the south of the city.

The car was packed with 200 kilo grammes of explosives, and blew up near a security checkpoint on a road to Damascus airport, and was one of the deadliest attacks to hit Syria in more than a decade.

In New Delhi, meanwhile, one child was killed and 18 people were injured in a bomb attacks in a crowded shopping area in the Indian capital, coming exactly two weeks after several markets in the city were hit by deadly explosions.
