Bringing Narendra Modi would encourage communalism, capitalism: Prakash Karat, CPI-M
Bringing Modi to power at the Centre and implementing his Gujarat model of development would only encourage capitalism and communalism, Karat today said.

"We will present the third alternative before the country which will fight both the Congress and BJP. Narendra Modi is afraid of this third alternative that is why he had mocked at the proposed alternative at the national level while addressing a meeting in Kolkata recently," Karat said in a Left Front rally at the Brigade Parade Grounds in Kolkata. "BJP is attempting to present itself as an alternative to the UPA.
They have projected Narendra Modi as their Prime Ministerial candidate. Now Modi is trying to establish the Gujrat model in the country. In his home state, Modi has given advantage to the corporate world and the capitalist block. In his state, Modi has also encouraged communal violence.
Exploitation by the capitalist block and corporate world will reach its peak if Modi manages to win. Secular fabric of our country will be at a stake once BJP wins in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. We will prevent this at any cost. In West Bengal, people will certainly reject the BJP," Karat said.
Coming down heavily on Modi, the CPMs’ top leader also said "Modi has invited Mamata to work with him. It is natural for Modi because Mamata was a minister in Vajpayee government. She resigned from Vajpayee government in 2001. In 2002, Modi became Gujrat CM and everyone knows what had happened in Gujrat".
