‘BRICS economies growing at twice global rate’: Modi on trade barriers & freedom of navigation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi, highlighting the grouping’s growing role in the global economy. Modi said BRICS economies have expanded at roughly twice the growth rate of the world economy. He highlighted India’s infrastructure expansion, more than 2 lakh startups and the growing role of AI and edtech. Modi also highlighted UPI and India’s digital payments ecosystem, while pitching the country as a major manufacturing and investment opportunity. He called for deeper BRICS economic integration, greater trade and talent mobility, and stronger cooperation.
