BRICS: Chinese representatives get into tiff with security forces
DABOLIM: Two minor altercations were witnessed between Indian security forces and Chinese delegates and journalists on the opening day of the Brics Summit on Saturday.

In the first incident, two zealous journalists of Chinese origin rushed forward to videograph and take photos of Chinese president Xi Jinping after he alighted from his aircraft, even as the security staff at Dabolim airport struggled to pull them back. Even minister of state for external affairs V K Singh, who was there to receive Jinping, was jostled during the brief commotion on the tarmac.

Later in the evening, when Jinping arrived at Taj Exotica in Benaulim for the bilateral discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a minor altercation was witnessed between Goa police and Chinese delegates.

Sources said Jinping arrived at the venue along with extra delegates, who were stopped by securitymen for not having security passes.

Before long, a scuffle broke out between the two sides and chief security liaison officers of India and China were called in to settle the issue. The delegates without passes were sent back.
