SINGUR-WB: A day after the Tatas announced suspension of work at the small car plant in Singur, incidents of brickbatting were reported when a rally in support of the Tata project turned violent.

A 250-strong group of local suppliers to the Tata small car project took out a rally from Ratanpur carrying placards demanding that Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee leave Singur and work resume at the project site.

When the police prevented them from moving forward, the rallyists threw brickbats at the Trinamool Congress supporters. Tension prevailed in the area but the situation was under control, police added.
