Bribe row: Court to hear plea against Arvind Kejriwal on February 2

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court today fixed February two for hearing a criminal complaint seeking action against AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly exhorting voters to take bribes from BJP and Congress and vote for his party.

"Put up matter for February 2," Metropolitan Magistrate Richa Gusain Solanki said.

The complaint was marked to the magistrate by the chief metropolitan magistrate. Filed by lawyer Arun Kumar, it accused Kejriwal of deliberately abetting bribery.

In his complaint, Kumar has alleged that Kejriwal, despite himself being a former Delhi chief minister and knowing the fact that acceptance of bribe is punishable under law, instigated the voters to do such a thing.

The complaint sought Kejriwal's prosecution for alleged offences of abetment, offering or accepting bribe and punishment for bribery under Indian Penal Code.

The Election Commission has already issued three notices to Kejriwal, asking him to "desist" from making such comments on bribing of voters by political parties and warned him of strict action in the event of any violation.
