MUZAFFARNAGAR: Braille ballot papers would be provided to help 966 visually impaired voters exercise their franchise during the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on February 11 here, an official said today.

The district authorities have identified these voters in six assembly constituencies.

District Magistrate D K Singh said the ballot papers in Braille would be provided in all 1,819 polling booths.

As many as 19.14 lakh electorate including 8,73,063 women would cast their votes in the six assembly constituencies which include Muzaffarnagar, Miranpur, Purkazi, Budhana, Khatoli and Charthawal in the district.

Singh said that 80 candidates including 13 women are contesting elections.

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections will be held from February 11 to March 8 in seven phases.
