Brace for tough decisions on environmental front: Manish Sisodia to industries
NEW DELHI: In light of the growing concern over Delhi's hazardous air quality, the AAP government today advised industry bodies to brace themselves for some "tough" decisions on the environmental front towards tackling pollution.

Addressing the managing committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also reiterated the government's resolve to do away with ' licence raj' and implement a new policy.

"Annual renewal of licence is the biggest source of corruption. We can replace it through the introduction of annual fees. A committee has been formed in this regard which will submit its report by July 31," Sisodia said.

The future of the present generation depends on the quality of environment as it affects them the most, he said and stressed the need to adopt government as well as self-regulatory measures.

"Pollution is not about industries only. It's about the future of our family and children. We are ready to take some tough decisions and soon you would see some tough decisions being taken to tackle pollution. You should be ready for that," he said.

PHD Chamber President Alok B Shriram submitted a detailed proposal to the Deputy Chief Minister in which the abolition of Bombay Welfare Fund was sought so as to ensure that industry is not harassed as the "fund has hardly serve its purpose".
