Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expanded his council of ministers on Saturday, inducting Bodoland People's Front (BPF) MLA Charan Boro and formally bringing the BPF into the NDA fold.

Boro, a two-time MLA from Majbat, was sworn in at Raj Bhawan in Guwahati, marking the fourth cabinet expansion since Sarma took office in May 2021. Assam heads for assembly polls early next year.

Following the alliance, BPF will allocate two Executive Member (EM) positions and the post of Deputy Speaker to the BJP in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). "BPF works only for the people and for the development of BTC. To achieve that, we must form an alliance with the government," BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary said.
