Border tension affecting Jammu and Kashmir: Omar Abdullah
JAMMU: Tension along the border directly impacts tranquillity and development process in the state and endangers life and property of those living on the frontier, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said.

"Ceasefire violations and shelling not only make the people leave their homes but severely hamper agricultural operations causing economic stress to border people," Omar said while interacting with farmers at International Border near Chinore Farm, 35 kilometres from here last evening.

Expressing satisfaction over no reports of any recent ceasefire violation, the Chief Minister said he hoped that the situation along the border remains calm for the larger interests of people, particularly farmers.

Omar also expressed hope that India and Pakistan would resolve all issues through the process of dialogue.

The Chief Minister enquired about the welfare of the people and received brief from them about the prevailing situation and the status of their agricultural operations.

He gave directions to the Agriculture Department to provide all help to the border farmers for launch of successful agricultural operations.
