Former home minister and senior Nationalist Congress Party leader Anil Deshmukh got a relief as the Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected the CBI plea seeking further extension of its stay on its order giving Deshmukh bail. Deshmukh, arrested by the CBI in the '100 crore extortion case, was given bail on December 12. However, the CBI sought a stay on the sentence as it wanted to approach the Supreme Court. The Bombay High Court had accepted the CBI plea and had given ten days for the CBI to appeal the order. It was further extended till December 27 on another CBI plea last week.

However, on Tuesday, when the CBI again approached the Bombay High Court seeking another extension as the Supreme Court would hear its plea challenging the bail given to Deshmukh only in January 2023, the HC refused.
