CHENNAI: The Chennai police is conducting extensive search operations at the Tata Consultancy Services facility at Ambattur, Chennai, from where its employees have been evacuated following a bomb scare this morning.

A tenant nearby had received information over phone that a bomb had been planted at the TCS office.

A TCS employee told ET that the incident happened at around 10 am. This is a standalone TCS building where employees are given training. It houses about 1,500 employees.

“As the safety of our employees is paramount, we have evacuated all TCS trainees and faculty from the location in an orderly manner,” said a TCS spokesperson.

“The police and their specialist teams have taken control of the facility and are conducting their investigations into the incident,” the spokesperson said. The employees have been permitted to go home.

The company also said that this incident will not have any impact on its business operations in Chennai, with it being a training facility.
