Extensive searches are being carried out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Wednesday after police received information that a bomb has been planted at the premises of the institute.

NEW DELHI: Extensive searches are being carried out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Wednesday after police received information that a bomb has been planted at the premises of the institute.
Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were searching the institute premises while fire engines and ambulances were kept on a stand-by after police received an anonymous phone call about explosives being planted there, a top police official told
An AIIMS spokesman said the searches began at 11:30 am.
He said fire brigade personnel, policemen, bomb disposal squad along with AIIMS security personnel were combing the Institute campus to trace the explosives.
"The security personnel have checked the Emergency, OPD and Radiology wards but found nothing," he said adding that every precaution was being taken to search the huge campus.
The spokesman said police received the call and alerted the Institute authorities. "However, the caller did not specify where the explosives have been planted," he said.
