Body of abducted call centre employee found

Body of a youth, Abhishek Chachan, who was missing from the town since Thursday, was found from Lichupokhri under Phansidew police station, about eight km from here, this morning, police said.

SILIGURI: Body of a youth, Abhishek Chachan, who was missing from the town since Thursday, was found from Lichupokhri under Phansidew police station, about eight km from here, this morning, police said.

Abhishek, a first year commerce student of Siliguri College and used to work at a call centre, went missing after leaving home for the call centre at 2 pm.

He did not return that night and the family members received a few calls demanding a ransom of Rs 20 lakh yesterday. The abductors had used Abhishek's mobile set while calling, the Chachan family members said.

Abhishek's father Arovind Chachan had filed an FIR to Siliguri police sation immediately after getting the ransom call. Police then found Abhishekh's motor cycle from near Siliguri district hospital.

From preliminary examination of the body, it appeared that Abhishek was killed on May 22, the day he was abducted.

The police, still in the dark about the motive of the killing, was awaiting the post mortem report.
