Blast in Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train; 6 injured

NEW DELHI: Six people have been reportedly injured today in an explosion in 59320 Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train near Kalapipal town in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports, six passengers were injured in the explosion after a blast took off on Tuesday morning at around 10 am in the first compartment of the passenger train when the train was passing Jabdi station.



"The blast occurred in a general coach of the train when it was on its way to Ujjain from Bhopal," Railway PRO, Indore, Jitendra Kumar Jayant said.

Three compartments of the trains reportedly derailed after the blast. The reason behind the explosion could not be ascertained.


"Injured passengers have been admitted to Kalapipal government hospital, medical team sent. The reason behind the explosion could not be ascertained," IA Siddiqui, PRO, Bhopal Division of Indian Railways said.

Following the blast, the train came to a halt. Smoke engulfed the general coach, causing panic among the passengers who rushed out to save themselves.

A relief train has been rushed to the mishap site and a probe has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the blast.

Madhya Pradesh government has announced Rs 25,000 compensation to injured and Rs 50,000 to critically injured persons.
