'Blaming your forefathers for partition...': Adnan Sami hits back at Congress for criticising his meeting with RSS chief
Singer Adnan Sami responded to Congress criticism over his meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Sami asserted his legal Indian citizenship and drew parallels to the Partition, stating he shouldn't be blamed for his father's past. He also addresse...

In a post on X, Sami said he became an Indian citizen legally and through due process, and should therefore be accepted as such. Drawing a parallel with the Partition, he said just as today’s Congress leaders cannot be held responsible for the actions of their forefathers, he too should not be blamed for his father’s past.
“Dear respected fellow patriots from the Maharashtra Congress, it would not be fair to blame you for the tragic Partition that your forefathers were responsible for, because you cannot be held accountable for their deeds,” Sami wrote.
“Regardless, today you acknowledge Pakistan as a legitimate nation. Once a legitimate conversion has taken place legally and as per procedure, you accept it and move on. Similarly, kindly move on.”
The Congress had earlier attacked Bhagwat, alleging that Sami’s father, Arshad Sami Khan, was a Pakistan Air Force pilot who destroyed the Pathankot air base during the 1965 war. “Today, Mohan Bhagwat is enjoying a meal with him. RSS = anti-national,” the party said in a post on X.
Sami also took a swipe at Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena (UBT), saying it would be equally wrong for him to blame Raut’s father for his poor harmonium skills. “Your fingering is completely wrong and misplaced! I’ll be happy to teach you,” he wrote, adding that he was a musician who spreads love, not a politician.
On Sunday, Sami had shared photographs of his meeting with Bhagwat, praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief. “Had an incredible afternoon with the legendary Sarsanghchalak of RSS. He cleared many myths and misconceptions with great eloquence. An incredible gentleman and a beautiful soul,” the Padma Shri awardee wrote.
