Blame Game Over Palghar lynching in Maharashtra

Mumbai: A blame game has started in Maharashtra on the Palghar lynching incident in which three people, including two sadhus, were killed. Congress alleged most of those accused and those arrested belong to BJP. However, BJP claimed that at least one of the attackers was a local NCP leader. Meanwhile, CM Uddhav Thackeray hinted that blame also lies with the Centre-administered Dadra and Nagar Haveli administration.

Thackeray said he has spoken to home minister Amit Shah who agreed that there was nothing communal in the incident. He said UP CM had also called him up to enquire about the incident.

Congress’ Sachin Sawant alleged BJP’s hand in the lynching by claiming that the saffron party was in power in Palghar panchayat for the past 10 years. “There were rumours being spread that robbers were coming at night, children were being kidnapped and their organs being stolen by people belonging to a minority community who came wearing disguises. It needs to be investigated.” BJP later in a statement said the panchayat was being controlled by CPM and the local MLA was also from the same party.
