Blacklist Pak woman for Indian visa: Raj govt to MHA

JAIPUR: Rajasthan government has suggested to the Union Home Ministry to blacklist a Pakistani woman, who had stayed in a five-star hotel here for three days without visa as a guest of a Congress MLA from Punjab, for her future travel to India.

The state CID has served a show-cause notice to the Jai Mahal Palace of Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, where Najmi Rizvi had stayed, asking why the passport of the Pakistani citizen was not verified for visa, Principal Secretary (Home) P Sen told media.

Rizvi had stayed at the hotel with Punjab Congress MLA Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi and his family members from December 29 to January 2 and also did shopping, police sources said.

The visa of Rizvi, who belongs to a royal family of Rawalpindi and had entered India via Wagah border on December 25, permitted her to visit Delhi, Chandigarh and Agra, they said adding it however did not mention Jaipur for the visit.

The state intelligence department's Additional Director General Bhaskar Chatterjee held a high-level meeting today on the issue but there was no official word on what transpired there.

Since Rizvi has returned to Pakistan whatever action has to be taken will be taken by the Union Home Ministry under the Foreigners' act, said a senior state police officer. He said prima facie a case cannot be registered here unless asked by the central government.

The police and intelligence agencices in Rajasthan came to know about Rizvi's presence in the city when the hotel management reported that she had stayed without proper documents but did not act on that information.
