MUZAFFARNAGAR: Bhartiya Kisan Union today demanded merging of three divisions of western Uttar Pradesh with Haryana, citing better administration and higher support price for sugarcane in the neighbouring state.

The UP government has failed to solve the problems faced by the farmers and therefore, we have decided to start a movement demanding that Saharanpur, Meerut and Moradabad divisions be merged with Haryana, BKU chief Naresh Tikait said at the outfit's headquarters in Sisauli town near here.

Haryana has good administration, lesser cost of agriculture produce, higher minimum support price for sugarcane and cheaper diesel price as compared to UP, he said.
